Gallery Walaker 300
A variety of art and cultural communication
Galleri Walaker 300 is the hotel's art gallery, established in 1990 to mark the Nitter Walaker family's 300th anniversary at Walaker Hotell. The gallery is housed in the old barn building from 1883, which was built with materials from the old church in Solvorn from the 17th century. Traces of the church decor can still be seen in the gallery.
The gallery features exhibitions by both local and national artists. Previous exhibitions have presented works by, among others, Rolf Nerli, Nico Widerberg, Magne V. Kristiansen, Astrid Grue, Tina Tobiassen, Kristian Finborud, Ørnulf Opdahl, etc.
The gallery is open to hotel guests every evening after dinner.
Rooms in the gallery:
Smalahuset
Smalahuset, the old sheep barn, can be found on the first floor. The small house is rustic, with wooden beams and slate floors, and is used for art exhibitions as well as a party room. The room has two long tables and can accommodate a maximum of 36 people.
The dung cellar
The old dung cellar is often used for cake buffets or intimate dance floors at parties.
The loft
On the third floor is the loft, the old barn for hay and grain storage. The room is used as a meeting room and exhibition space for pictures and sculptures.
