National Tourist Route Sognefjellet
A drive over Sognefjellet offers magnificent natural experiences, with mighty mountains on all sides. The peak at 1434 meters above sea level, makes the way to Northern Europe's highest mountain pass. Up here, the mountains show their wildest side, before sloping down to the beautiful Sognefjord, where the clear water changes from green to blue depending on the light and weather.
The national tourist route over Sognefjellet runs between Gaupne and Lom. There are beautiful rest areas and lookout points along the way, with paths you can follow further. On the way down to Turtagrø you pass Fannaråken and Helgedalsnosi. Here you have magnificent views of the wildest mountains in Norway with 23 peaks over 2000 meters.
